Why We Do It

A World Healthcare Crisis Point

Many nations are struggling to afford healthcare for their citizens. The US and China, as the world’s two biggest economies, are at a crisis point in healthcare provision.

In the US:

  • Government projections estimate the cost of healthcare, for persons 65 years of age until their death, at $450,000 per person.
  • The over 65 population in the US is currently 46 million. By 2050, it will reach 100 million.
  • In the next 33 years, persons over 65 are projected to cost the US healthcare system an additional $25 trillion.

In China:

  • The population of persons over 65 is projected to grow from 140 million to approximately 400 million by 2050.
  • The health of the existing population is deteriorating with 170 million suffering from hypertension, 92 million with diabetes, and 120 million with fatty livers.
  • Chronic conditions represent a huge cost at a governmental level and require prevention.
